Crews Respond to Two Fires on Mt. Tamalpais Watershed

Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) crews responded to two fires today on the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed.

The first, possibly caused by a downed power line, was successfully contained by MMWD and is being monitored.

The second fire, which has burned about 15-20 acres of grass and chaparral near Pine Mountain Fire Road, is being attended to by Marin County Fire, Cal Fire and eight MMWD fire personnel. Ground efforts have been assisted by aircraft performing drops of retardant plus water from nearby Kent Lake. Per Marin County Fire, the fire is currently 50% contained and is expected to be fully contained by 6:00 p.m. today, with "under control" status by tomorrow morning.
