The deadline is fast approaching for the Marin Municipal Water District's Water Scholars Program. MMWD invites high school seniors to share their ideas about the importance of clean water, water conservation and watershed preservation in an original essay, with the opportunity to earn a $1,000 scholarship to support their post-high school education. Applications are due to MMWD by Friday, February 8, 2019.
To apply, a student must be a member of the 2019 Senior Class within MMWD's service area, maintain a current GPA of 3.0 or higher, and submit a completed application form and essay. The Water Scholars Program guidelines and application form are available at: marinwater.org/WaterScholars
In 2018, the first year of the Water Scholars Program, MMWD awarded $1,000 scholarships to five graduating high school seniors in our service area. The water district created the scholarship program to expand water education and water awareness for high school students. MMWD also offers a variety of other free water education programs for schools, including classroom presentations, assemblies, and field trips to the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed.
