MMWD Replacing Aging and Deteriorating Pipes in Cascade Canyon Neighborhood in Mill Valley

The Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD) will be replacing 1,450 feet of aging and deteriorating water distribution pipes in the Cascade Canyon neighborhood of Mill Valley beginning in March 2015.

The district will replace 8-inch and 6-inch cast iron pipe installed in the 1930s with 8-inch welded-steel pipe on portions of Cornwall Street, Cascade Drive, and Throckmorton Lane and Avenue. This project is being coordinated with the City of Mill Valley to be completed prior to their road overlay project in summer 2015.

MMWD received seven bids for the project. The Board of Directors awarded the contract to Richmond-based W. R. Forde Associates, which submitted the lowest responsible bid of $197,445. The work is scheduled to begin in March and to be completed by mid-May.

Both the contractor and MMWD will make every effort to minimize traffic disruptions during construction.

Customers with questions about the project can contact MMWD at 415-945-1517.
