Adult Education Program
Vegetation, Wildlife, and Conservation Education
We have a variety of opportunities for adults to learn about watershed ecology and restoration, plant and animal identification and protection, and water-wise gardening. Click on the following links to learn more about these programs.
Habitat Restoration: These volunteer events are a great way to learn about native and invasive plants while helping to improve the ecological health of the watershed.
Trail Crews: Spend a Saturday helping MMWD build and maintain our network of watershed trails. You'll learn how to build safe and ecological trails and bridges.
Turtle Observer Program: In the spring, you can volunteer for this program, which teaches you about the native Western Pond Turtle and other non-native turtles such as the Slider turtle .
Frog Docent Program: This program teaches volunteers about the threatened Foothill Yellow-legged frog and tools for engaging the public at Carson Falls to protect the frogs' breeding area.
Citizen Science: Come help us document native and non-native plants on the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed as part of a three-year study with the California Academy of Sciences.
Bay-Friendly Gardening: Gardeners can learn about sustainable gardening methods including building healthy soil, reducing waste in the garden, conserving water, creating wildlife habitat, managing pests naturally, and more. You can also register your Bay-Friendly garden and proudly post a Bay-Friendly sign to show your commitment to protecting the environment.
