Construction update (updated Sept. 19, 2023)
The 200,000-gallon Bolsa Tank has been removed and decommissioned from the District's system. Instead of replacing the nearly 50-year-old tank in Mill Valley, Marin Water merged adjacent pressure zones by adjusting existing valves and regulators such that the tank is no longer needed. With the removal, there are just four remaining redwood water storage tanks in the District's system.

Fire Safety and Reduced Maintenance
Bolsa tank is one of five remaining redwood tanks in the District’s system and has reached the end of its useful life and is beyond repair. Removing the tank from the system will allow for increased hydrant flows in the surrounding area, remove a known leak from the system, and reduce the overall number of District assets requiring maintenance.
