Tiburon Pipeline Replacement Project

The 2024 Tiburon Pipeline Replacement Project, a component of the District's Capital Improvement Program, will replace nearly 3,500 feet of aging cast iron pipeline beneath Paradise Drive in Tiburon. The 6-inch pipeline along in this section was first installed in 1922, and the welded steel pipeline replacing it will increase reliability and seismic resiliency of the District's water infrastructure.

Construction Update (May 6, 2024)

Work is set to begin on this project in June 2024, and last through the summer and beyond. Construction is expected to wrap up in February 2025.

Maintaining Infrastructure is Top Priority

This pipeline replacement project replaces aging infrastructure as part of the District's Capital Improvement Program. Work to install seismically resilient welded steel pipe ensures water supply reliability now, while also improving water quality and lowering maintenance costs moving forward.

Project Description

Replacement of approximately 3,490 feet of 6-inch, cast-iron pipe installed in 1922 beneath Paradise Drive in the Town of Tiburon. The project includes the installation of 8-, 6- and 4-inch welded steel water pipe with valves, fittings, laterals and appurtenances in coordination with the Town of Tiburon's street overlay program. Work will take place between Mar West Street and Agreste Avenue, crossing Solano Street in the process.

Benefits

The Town has notified the District that their full depth reclamation project will grind down the street 18 inches and the District water main is located at approximately 20 inches of cover. By replacing this section of cast iron with new welded steel pipe at a depth of 36-inches, the District will be able to ensure that the pipe will not be damaged during the reconstruction process and will have a new reliable and seismically resilient section of distribution main along this section of Paradise Drive.
