Rock Ridge Pipeline Replacement Project- Fire Flow Improvement Program

The Rock Ridge Pipeline Replacement Project will install more than 7,500 feet of 6- and 8-inch wedled steel and PVC pipe as part of the District's Fire Flow Improvement Program. The work is taking place in Fairfax and in unincorporated parts of Marin County, near Manor Elementary School. Work will be performed on Scenic and Rockridge roads, Muriel Place and San Miguel and Arcangel courts, as well as Gregory and Oak Manor drives and Cynthia, Steven and Von courts. 

Construction Update (March 2025)

Work is underway and new water main is being placed as part of the Rock Ridge Pipeline Replacement Project.

Fire safety and emergency preparedness critical

This project increases the volume of water available for fighting fires as part of Marin's Fire Flow Program. Developed together with residents, city and county officials, area fire chiefs and residents, the Marin Fire Flow Program is being implemented by Marin Water over the next 15 years to address a key public safety concern in the region.

Project Description 

Installation of approximately 7,590 linear feet of 8- and 6-inch welded steel and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe with valves, fittings, pipeline disinfection and appurtenances.

Benefits

The project will replace old, undersized fire flow-deficient pipe installed as early as 1934.
