Frequently Asked Questions

In response to customer feedback and in line with the District’s Five-Year Strategic Plan, Marin Water has implemented a secure, convenient and more user-friendly online payment system.

Since 2007, Marin Water has used the same online bill pay system. The new, modernized platform offers expanded payment options and intuitive features, improving account management and customer service.

In November 2024, Marin Water issued a Request for Proposals, evaluating vendors based on criteria such as customer portal, company history, project management approach and pricing model. Paymentus was ultimately selected for their intuitive customer portal, multiple payment options, forward thinking approach to technology, security and reliability, customer support, supportive project management, successful software integration and lowest overall cost with a predictable pricing model (a savings compared to our previous system).

The new online bill portal has a much more intuitive interface for customers, allowing for easier self-service account management. It also offers multiple payment options, a quick one-time payment feature, the option to sign up for paperless billing with email reminders and the opportunity to schedule automatic payments from your checking account or credit card. While customers can still reach Marin Water’s dedicated customer service team by phone or in person Monday through Thursday, 8a.m. to 4:30p.m., the new system offers pay-by-phone 7 days per week.

Your Marin Water customer number and service number remain the same.

Online bill pay customers that used the previous system will retain their username but will need to reset their password to access the new system. Passwords can also be reset directly on the new login page by entering your username and clicking “forgot your password.” In some cases, your username may be your email address.

If you are having difficulty accessing the new online billing portal using your previous login credentials, use this form to request password reset assistance. If you need after-hours support, representatives from Paymentus are available at 800.420.1663.

If this is your first time using Marin Water’s online payment system, you can register using your six-digit customer number found in the upper right corner of your bill. Customers can also make quick one-time payments without setting up an online account.

Marin Water has made every effort to ensure your information transferred seamlessly. Customers previously enrolled in e-billing, auto-pay and EasyPay have been migrated over to the new system and re-enrollment should not be necessary. We recommend that these customers log in to verify their payment method and autopay settings. If you do not see autopay set for your account, then you will need to re-enroll. To verify your account settings or make changes, access the new online billing portal.

Marin Water will eventually sunset the EasyPay direct debit payment option at a later date (to be announced). Current EasyPay customers are encouraged to enroll in the online bill payment options available through the new system. Please contact Marin Water Customer Service to cancel EasyPay if you enroll in a new bill pay option.

Customers will be able to view their payment history and previous invoices within the new system.

Online bill pay is one of the safest ways for customers to pay their bills. The regulations governing online payments are rigorous and consistently updated to meet new market challenges and requirements. The Paymentus platform is independently audited and fully compliant with the latest regulations such as Level 1 PCI, NACHA, PII, HIPPA and more.
